Hands Off! is a new limited-edition cassette compilation that was produced as a response to the shuttering of Burger Records earlier this year, which came as a result of wide-ranging sexual misconduct allegations leveled against the label’s staff and affiliated artists.
“This is a statement about there being no tolerance for predatory behavior in the rock scene,” LG of Thelma & the Sleaze said. “The buck stops here. We wanted to put together something special by womxn to empower womxn as a collective force for change. Cassette culture and DIY culture must progress and maintain its importance moving forward for a better tomorrow, inclusion, accessibility for all artists. Fuck boys’ clubs.”
Brooklyn’s Steakhouse Records brought together ‘You’re Gonna Be Great’, an exclusive Bandcamp compilation to benefit IntegrateNYC, a youth led organization that is leading the front on truly merging city schools who for years have been segregated through racial discrimination tactics that the city has deployed on neighborhoods for 100+ years.
